People come from all over the globe for a chance to glimpse Savannah’s haunted history on our ghost tours. And there is a lot of haunted history…
The Foley House Inn
On the ghost tours we offer, one of our guests’ favorite places to visit is the Foley House Inn. Now, I can’t go giving the tour away right off of the bat, but suffice to say the history that is associated with this house may explain the ghosts and hauntings. For many years the guests who have stayed at the Foley House Inn, as well as the staff, have reported all sorts of ghostly phenomena. Shadow people, full bodied apparitions, disembodied sounds and more have been experienced inside this haunted Inn.
I was on the Midnight Voodoo Tour one night a few months back with Chris. I was simply listening to the story enjoying the scenery that beautiful Chippewa Square provides. All of a sudden, one of the guests on the tour shouted, ‘Oh my God!’. Chris immediately asked her what was wrong. She said that she just watched a man appear on the stairs leading into the Foley House Inn and simply walked through the closed door that leads into the entrance. She seemed particularly startled.
As someone who spends a lot of time in haunted spaces, I can tell you that seeing a ghost, an apparition, whatever you want to call it, will certainly startle you. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been doing this 1 day or 10 years, it is shocking every time it happens. This woman, previously a skeptic, found herself questioning her beliefs about ghosts. Now, while this is certainly an interesting occurrence, it must be stated that seeing a ghost while on a tour is pretty rare. It certainly is possible but most people who take a ghost tour do it for the entertainment factor, to learn more about Savannah’s haunted history while visiting the most haunted places. The chance of you seeing a real ghost on a tour is pretty slim, but it does happen.

He believes the best history is honest, atmospheric, and just unsettling enough to linger.
